>What do we know about the state of the world outside of the Lands Between?
It's a wide world. There are TwiLiDs there. There's a large Two Fingers Church. There's a Japan spot that seems to be experiencing a longstanding state of civil war.
>The other way around: what does the rest of the world know about the state of affairs in the lands between.
They do but it's like Asgard or Olympus so it's not something people understand in detail.
>Does the random sushi cook in the land of reeds know or care about the shattering or who becomes elden lord?
Great question. Can't know for sure but since Executor lore seems to imply a Reedlander thinking the Erd is special, the Two Fingers/Golden Order religion must be there too. At least as something people know about.
>As far as I know the lands between are not just some continent in the world but rather some kind of (demi)god realm already.
Yeah it's both. You can sail there but it's sort of not really part of the main world. Remember before they released the final version, it was the "riftlands". I think Asgard+Olympus is actually most accurate since it's a place normies can simply go to but also a realm of it's own.

I don't have a source my I was raised by a giganerd cinema guy OG weeb type Dad and he was saying that because he was trying to get hype with me about it. We pretty much only bond over media nowadays so he was excited for me about Elden Ring and likes GRRM so is interested in the film. What he said is Garland actually requested/pursued the project.
