The fun part is that the game is still going with a stable number of users and new content.
Officially it ended being supported and the devs wanted to make a weird new thing. Don't know if they have backpedaled from that.
Game was just hard to promote. It looks less fun than it actually is, and many people thought it was a moba-clone. The Trigger trailer did help for Japan, it was/is very popular there. They also hired a bunch of streamers to play the game, which didn't result in a large increase of players staying with the game.
