Back then, Halo was considered part of the casual gamer AAA regurgitation that /v/ continues to seethe about today. Yet in retrospect, Halo was fun, and continues to be fun (at least the OG trilogy, anyway.) We didn't know how good we had it, since there was more than one good game to play on whichever system you owned. Though I wonder how much of that feeling had to do with just being younger.

Truth is it isn't any better or worse. Emulation is a lot more stable and available now, even with the Nutendo crackdowns, so there's that silver lining.
