idk, probably the eddas or the metamorphoses, depending which you are more interested in. neopagans make the mistake of mixing ideas from different mythologies, but it is necessary to at least study and compare the different myths given their glaring similarities. all the most ancient aryan religions say the world was created from a slain giant (in some, an entire race of giants) where the earth was formed from their flesh and the seas from their blood; this mytheme makes more sense when compared to vedic funeral prayers where the corpse of the dead family member is offered to the 4 elements; "As his blood becomes the seas, his flesh becomes the Earth, his breath becomes the Air, his Eyes becomes the Stars". this reflect an idea that as Man is a product of the universe so he returns to it; compare to the biblical verse, 'For thou art ashes, and to ashes thou shalt return'
in the same way that the bible is a collection of books and not really a single book, and in the same way that the bible itself is only a partial look into christianity and needs contextual information outside of it, paganism is a spiritual system that takes years of study to comprehend. this is part of why paganism in its current state is so cringe; there are no sages to guide initiates and catechumens along their path, at least not yet, only more initiates who are studying themselves.
