I wouldn't say it's related my religion because I don't subscribe to liberalism at all. I just don't see it as truly spiritual, given its natural conclusion is to explain its metaphysics as innate to the physical universe, but are ultimately dictated in meaning by the state. Older liberalism at least tried to say "God guarantees these things" in a world where the vast majority of people actually believed in God. You could tack it onto interpretations of Scripture and such. Modern liberalism has to explain these tenants as part of a purely material universe, even if it makes no sense and just becomes its own religion. Ultimately, it's the great subsumer, bending and warping all beliefs to submit to its core teachings.

At the very least, we don't disagree that it's this kind of pseudo-religious thing.
