That's very possible - if nothing else, the physical structure itself seems likely to have inspired the metaphor, but I do see a lot of Hellenism in the notion that everyone speaks the same tongue (ie. Greek). But I'm biased, as I'm much more of a Greco-Roman nerd than a Babylonian.
