He ran in a deep, deep red district that overwhelmingly voted for Trump. Despite this, his Democratic opponent was within fighting distance of actually beating him. He was a never Trumper Desantis supporter who pushed for the vaxx and lockdowns. After Oct 7 he made a hard switch to suck off Zion Don. Because the race was so close Trump personally had to campaign for him.
