"Sorry." You say awkwardly. You quickly bring up your own menu and target the girl to send a party invite. It takes a moment for the girl to notice the gentle "Ping!" followed up by the small window appearing before her. She jumps slightly at the sudden notice and quickly accepts.

Elementalist. You figured with that staff she'd be one but with a name like Serena Starlight you half expected her to be an Astrologian. Doing a quick snoop, you access her equipment preview. Unsurprisingly, she was wearing only the basic starter gear for the island. Not terrible for a newbie but something that should probably replaced asap. You weren't sure if you expected her to be fully geared out for her level but the only outstanding thing about her was her staff. Closing the menu, you dig into your pocket and draw a healing potion. With a quick swig, you ignore the taste of what you always described as out of date cough syrup and feel a coolness flow through your body.
Healing potion used. 5% HP restored.
"So, you mentioned you had a quest to kill boars too?" You ask, trying to change the subject as you pocket the empty flask. "Did the butcher send you out here too?"
"Oh...No. I was trying to get a new cooking recipe but mayor's chef said I had to replace all the meat I burned. The crafting mechanics in this game sure are realistic." Serena says, perking up a bit. "He told me I had to kill 15 boars." She adds.
"Fifteen...how much cooking did you do?" You ask, stunned. Boars provided plenty of meat each. Even 2 or 3 boars gave enough meat to satisfy a player's curiosity for cooking provided they had even access to the appropriate gathering skill. In terms of game lore, 15 boars could feed a village the size of one on the island for a day or so. Serena seems unfazed or perhaps she was unaware of how much her request would provide.
"Ummm...a lot!" She says cheerfully. At the very least her mood improved.
"Do you have Carving?" You ask. Serena nods.
"I do but it's kinda hard to use. I've never cut up an animal before." She admits. Gathering skills, while not rare, tended to be rather scarce due to the time and dedication required to level them up. Not only that, but many of the gathering skills were modeled after their real world counterparts and required much of the effort and steps that the real thing demanded. As such, gathering tended to leave the player quite vulnerable to "Vultures" or PKers that lie in wait for gathering players to do their work for them before killing them for loot.
"Have you turned on assist mode?" You ask. "It'll highlight the steps to get regular mats. If you want HQ mats you'll need to turn it off though."
"What's that?" Serena asks.
