I wanted to say that perhaps the Mole arc was some sort of wakeup call for Axeman and that's why he has tried to stop it, but he still put out chapter 103 afterwards where the fans went nuts for the family stuff and the couple teasing.

He does that and then states that the fanbase has a skewed idea of Loid as a character as if he's not contributing to it.
It does end up coming off as very flip floppy. Maybe if he actually wrote more family stuff that involved a cold and grumpy spy being professional he'd have more ground to stand on, but the cold spy is never around. It's always the spy that makes this genuine heh face that's around.
