Here is a unique theory. They are quantum glitches. They are instances. Not some temporal hidden world. They are internal to the observer's mind but still physical in that it can be multiple people's minds at once and affect the surroundings. So it really happens, but it's impossible for conclusive evidence because the phenomenon ceases to exist outside the observer's time and surroundings of the encounter. It would then be a matter of how a person's mind shifts into these physical experiences. I am proposing some kind of quantum entanglement action like a dream come true.
