If they needed to survive a hostile planet and were forced to use feline DNA, I assume they used lion DNA, since it is a feline that is strong for surviving a hostile environment, but it is also sociable unlike other felines and being sociable is important for humans.
So I guess they are humans with lion characteristics and a social structure similar to lion prides, with an alpha male as the main leader (the strongest), a lioness as second in command (usually the most experienced), several other lionesses and some smaller males.
