tbf breaking wheels were an old execution method. in pagan times they would just run people over with chariots that had spiked wheels until they were dead; then in christian times they devised the whole 'lets just run over their limbs and tie their broken limbs to the wheel and leave them to die' part. its sort of silly to ascribe brutal execution methods to any religion or civilization; in pagan rome they crucified people, in pagan germania they bogged people, in jewish israel they stoned people, in pagan persia they used scaphism, and in feudal shinto japan they did all of the above
