You mean the aliens being a metaphor for commies? Well for one the aliens are portrayed as enlightened far beyond our primitive, violent and petty emotional outbursts. Practically gods by comparison. The movie is promoting World Peace thru disarmament and global governance, for the audience to consider, in light of being proposed by more sophisticated beings.
