They want to use one or two of the characters introduced here for another movie/show so they had to dump it out quick. also now that Sinners did great they can ride its coat tails and plaster the director all over the material despite him doing jack shit but collect a paycheck for a series filmed 4+ years ago.

They also cut into some of RDJs budget so he had to facetime into a show and give his opinion on it being good. they probably had to add another half a mill onto his 100+ million paycheck
