Is it normal for women to open up and speak about very personal things very quickly with someone?

I work as an environmental monitor, and at my current job site I happened to get paired with a girl I went to college with. I never really talked to this girl much, and we were not friends. I only ever went out with her a few times because our friend group had some overlap and the entire group was going out together. Other than that, no real interaction.

Today, we were paired up working on some surveys and the conversation was going pretty well. I felt comfortable with her, and I assume she felt the same because the conversation eventually turned to some fairly dark and personal shit. She basically started trauma dumping and venting to me about her life and the things she went through growing up. At first I tried to change the topic cause it seemed unprofessional, but I noticed as she was unloading heavy stuff on to, she seemed to be close to tears. I could hear it in her voice and see it on her face. Suddenly, some weird male instinct kicked in where all I wanted was to provide this poor young woman with care and comfort, and so I let her continue and tried my best to give her emotional support.

Its just odd, this has never really happened to me before. Is this a normie thing? Do they really just trauma dump to strangers like this? Or is it a woman thing? How can she feel so comfortable as to share such personal things with me after like 2 conversations?

This isn't real, you're not really here right now. You're in the hospital in a coma. This is our last resort at waking you up. The doctor wants to pull the plug.

>PLEASE WAKE UP, WE MISS YOU WE LOVE YOU...

Broke up with my first girlfriend today. We were only dating for a few months.

Feeling like a real piece of shit right now.
