You know, I really wasn't expecting this ever to come up again. I don't think it was mentioned even a single time in all of Act 2. Cassia mentioned that the gem was still there when she spoke to me on the ship immediately after I recruited her, but then she went right back into making crewmembers near her kill themselves by accident.
