"There is simply no comparing enchantments to the rest." He also clarified: "It's a common misconception, but magic isn't elemental. Alchemy and chemistry are most definitely elemental indeed."

Yet what really interested you was how to cast spells easily, as Todred demonstrated by making a small water bubble with ease using only a fraction of his mana. He explained that you had to both visualize the spell and pull at the right magical forces in the universe to successfully conjure it. You recalled all that stuff Ruby said about the aether, and how it was a medium of light that uses mana to stabilize this laws of physics.

"Depending on how large your mana pool is, your spells will last longer. And the more you practice a spell, the stronger it becomes. But this doesn't go infinitely, since the laws of physics limited spells in many ways. You wouldn't, for example, be able to move a building with telekinesis. Only when you achieve balance between these components can you cast magic." Todred concluded.

Though impressive to someone that came from a world without magic like your own, you realize magic here wasn't strong when compared to the shows you used to watch and games you used to play.

Eventually this small lesson in magic had to stop— nearly ending with a bang as the almost comical misfires from your wives' practice water spells almost destroyed some alchemy sets.

That seemed to mark the end of the conversation with Todred.

"With that done," Todred muttered as he returned everything to its original state using telekinesis, the small hint of empathy in his eyes warring with his tired expression, "I believe these idle conversations have already enveloped enough of the night. Lord Doe, I will contact you through the Fastwing Courier Corporation when the Academy finds out anything about the wand or of Rostchilde." He reassured you that 'Cyan' (better known to you as Eulia), being the best harpy courier in Centria, would be personally sent to contact you no matter where you were in the world.

Goodbyes were said, and you all left the Academy premises with haste before anyone came to investigate what that crashing sound was about. You now had one of the signatures needed out of the three minimum.

It was a beautiful morning. The sun was barely up, gracing the sky with pink and orange colors as it rose up from the horizon.

You were currently riding a flying ferry, touring Centria's sights once more. Next to you a very happy elf wiggled her ears and smiled.

"I know I keep saying this, but this means a lot to me." Said Aila. "And not to ruin the moment, but are you sure all your wives will be alright?"

"I gave them 30g each." You said. "They should be fine."

At least that's what you hoped. Herta in particular took every opportunity to cling to you yesterday, even getting an extra 'protein meal' this morning. It was the reason you were feeling so clear minded.
