Kokichi is the only one during the entire game who didn't oppose Shuichi. He was a better mentor than Kaede (who bought the Hope shit full force), a better friend than Kaito (who took the credit for Shuichi's work and brutalized anybody who didn't follow his lead), and he died being universally hated for trying to save everybody.
