You enjoy a good night’s rest within the confines of the Embassy. When you awaken, you find the rest of your party waiting for you. You had one week until the Competition began, and it was up to you to decide how to spend it. You could spend the few days you had left in training, but frankly, you thought you were warmed up enough. Between your encounters with the Riahi, the Djinn, Ahmose and his Sacred Weapon, and then the gauntlet and Klement, you had a feeling you’d seen more combat than any other contender within these walls. Instead, you wanted to see more of Morfis. In particular, you wanted to spend the large amount of gold you’d acquired in Shangri-La. The next morning, you meet up with the rest of your party, sans Alvin and Nadia, who hadn’t come back from the Royal College yet.
“I’d be happy to show you more of Morfis, Tristain.” Chelsey says. The dancer had assumed the role of tour guide, particularly with the absence of your other two companions. “We could visit the Royal Museum if you’d like? Or perhaps a trip to the Morfis Gallery? Or maybe we could stop for some quick bites at-”
>“Boorriinngg.” You moan. “Let’s go shopping. I bet there’s all kinds of cool shit I can buy here.”
Though it appears for a fraction of a second, Chelsey does her best to hide her disapproving scowl. “Fine. We can go shopping. In fact, I know just the place.”
Chelsey leads you and the gang through multiple winding city streets. Along the way, you pass by several shop fronts that, at a glance, look very interesting. One claims to have the most tomes in all Morfis. Another boasts that they have the largest supply of silver weapons in the entire country. One store even promises that they possess several reagents that can boost your constitution and health. Chelsey ignores all of them though, leading you further down the path.
“Don’t worry. I know exactly where the good stuff is.” She tells you.
After several minutes of walking, you finally end up in front of your promised destination. A shop sitting in a seemingly ordinary corner of the city. The entire front of the store has been carved out of glass, allowing you to look inside at the variety of goods on display, which include food, healing poultices, magic tomes, and even a variety of weapons. As you stare at the strange shop, a couple moves ahead of you to go inside. You are shocked to find the glass doors magically open the second the couple steps in front of the store, allowing them passage within.
>“What is this place?” You ask Chelsey, in awe.
“The Seven and Eleven Emporium.” Chelsey says. “The oldest store in Morfis. Supposedly created by one of the Sorcerer King’s apostles. It is a general shop that offers anything you might desire.”
“Anything?” May exclaims breathlessly.
“Anything.” Chelsey confirms. “The Emporium is a feat of wonder. A shining example of the genius of our founders.”
