Tbh I wouldn't mind length. As a kid I had periods when I was reading for like 10-12 hours straight with break or two to piss/eat Jason Bourne movies are absolute trash compared to books and bastardize it with so many changes it's worse than trannylators in gachas. I have more issue with amount of inconsequential text in Arknights. Girls Frontline also has massive lore and lengthy events but it feels like there is more substance in them. Like it's either description of action or interpersonal relations that will actually be referenced and have an impact on the story later on. In AK it's more of personality building that isn't utilized anywhere later on or shit that would maybe impress power hungry, edgy 13yos like
>look at us old fucks, we used to rule this neighbourhood, we're so powerful but we're holding back
Maybe it's issue of events being disconnected from each other because GF beside mini events has one long continuous story, but then again, BA also doesn't have many interconnected events but reads great. Though in BA proportions are reversed and it's 70% fun and 30% serious/mature story, while GF and AK try to tell mature story 70% of time with fun fillers making remaining 30%. If you run fun stories based on tropes then I guess focusing on personalities works. I always say reading BA feels like watching fun, light comedic anime like Mitsudomoe, while GF is action packed intrigue like Metal Gear Solid. Both good but in different genre.
I guess it's harder to write good serious story. And useless filler in AK is still better than annoying
>be careful, it's dangerous
In every second sentence in safe stories like in Genshin, especially that it's always nothing and power of friendship prevails. I'm tired of carebear attitude. I want characters to face actual risks and loses because then winning feels much more deserved and resonates more with reader's human nature.
