Didn't really have the time to judge whether the villains were interesting or not, I was way more bothered by how little the manga leaned into Mitsuki as a character (and the Borutsuki homo) compared to the anime. He was barely there.
I would have kept reading if Boruto's mangaka had thrown me a bone or two but this guy only cares about designing the worst outfits in two sizes too small to put Sarada's ass into. In general the anime did a way better job even though they weren't allowed to do much plot wise except ninja SoL. When the anime started adaptating the manga I dropped it.
