You actually got that even more backwards than they do: the media they consume is often INFINITELY more complex than their own surface-level sophomoric narratives, but they're too stupid to dig deeper than the bald-faced neoliberal propaganda placed front and center; indeed, even the creators of the media themselves are completely oblivious to what they're doing. For example, in the SJW efforts to be inclusive and diverse, they made the Empire full of brown lesbian handicapped atheists, and that's literally part of the Empire's policy: woke enforced communist diversity. Meanwhile, the Rebellion is portrayed as conservative: pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, pro-libertarian economics and politics, pro-religion - they completely befuddled their own messaging, and yet pretend THEY are the good guys!
