The clothing comes from the Lithuanian branch. The ultra-orthodox movement is late 19th century and reacting to reform and modernist movements. The Christian "fundamentalist" movement is like 1930s. The Islamic Wahabist movement is 18th and 19th centuries. If you examine these religious movements, they're extremely modern and reacting to modernization by over reacting and trying to reach an idealized past that never existed, and do more harm to themselves and their movements.
