Arend Heinrich Rudolf Oetker is a German businessman and “philanthropist”. He is an honorary president of the Federation of German Industries. He previously worked for his mother’s company Schwartauer Werke, a German food manufacturing company. He is the current chairman of Dr. Arend Oetker Holding GmbH & Co KG. He is also an Honorary Member and former president of the German Council on Foreign Relations, Germany’s Roundtable Group.

As the son of Heinrich Oetker and Ursula Oetker, Arend Heinrich Rudolf Oetker is a descendant and heir of the elite Oetker family. The Oetkers are a Germanic business bloodline who originally made their fortune in the baking powder industry. August Oetker, a German inventor and food scientist, developed his own baking powder. After acquiring a pharmacy in 1891, August Oetker founded the company Dr. Oetker and launched his Backin baking powder brand. Today, Dr. Oetker is a major subsidiary of Oetker-Gruppe. The family currently owns the management holding company Oetker-Gruppe located in Bielefeld, Germany. The youngest children of Rudolf August Oetker (Alfred and Ferdinand Oetker) own Geschwister Oetker Beteiligungs KG, another Bielefeld based holding company.
