It was the best and most nuanced story in the Weekly Shounen jump, at least in modern times, and it didn't overstay it's welcome. There's nothing that comes even remotely close to that level of character work, and plot structure.
The only story that surpasses CSM in the WSJ would be Stone Ocean but that's from a completely different generation.
