Thailand and Vietnam fought wars against each other over who would control Cambodia before the colonial era.

So there is genuine hatred against both by ordinary Cambodians.

But Vietnam occupies more currently Khmer inhabited land. Khmer Krom are under their occupation.

War with Thailand is the safer option for the Hun dictatorship in Cambodia which was installed by Vietnam.

Real right wing Cambodians will seize Kampuchea Krom first from Vietnam and then the border provinces with Thailand.
