Most people tend to single out Frontier, Xros, Applimon, and the new Adventure content as the bad parts of the anime whereas anything outside of those is fine. Even then if you approach Frontier as a Sentai season most people aren't disappointed since they know to expect no character development for anyone not red or blue and MotW shenanigans.
