Colombia is sketchy. You need to be aware of your surroundings and be careful who you trust. Do a lot of reading on the ISG before you go. It's been a long time since I was last in Colombia. It was sketchy back then but I hear it's gotten worse with the scopolamine issue. Thailand is definitely much safer but it also has it's issues sometimes.
