The defining trait of Republicans is selfishness and lack of empathy. They're high functioning psychopaths.
They only care about things when it starts affecting them personally. Many such cases.
They will speak of ethics but to them it's just a rulebook. A cudgel to beat you with until you do what they want.
They don't actually understand ethics. When people do good things without a selfish motive, republicans create conspiracy theories to invent a selfish motive. They genuinely can't understand why someone would be ethical without self interest.
In a word, they're evil.
