Unconfirmed reports claim that Alderaan, home system of senator Organa, has been destroyed by some kind of moon sized battlestation. Witnesses claim that a large circular ship looking to be of Imperial manufacture fired a superlaser at the planet, destroying it instantly. So far no transmission sent to the planet have been picked up. The Empire is currently blockading the hyperlanes leading to Alderaan and grand moff Tarkin could not be reached for comment.
