I love wizards because I empathize and heavily relate to what they are and value. I've always played wizards and casters in games, and whenever I'm able to, I always will, and I very rarely ever stray from that.
I also just love magic in general and the systems that facilitate it tend to be really fun.
There's only so many ways to swing a sword or fire an arrow or shoot a gun, but there's dozens of things magic can do, which is why I love utility casters as well.
I also love puzzles and riddles and solve them for fun when I'm at work to pass the time. I also read some books about them (though I primarily read 1800's/early 1900's literature) when they actually write wizards well.
The Dresdin Files is one of the only book series that I feel writes wizards well and understands them to a T, whereas I can't enjoy a single second of Harry Potter because of how much my autism flares due to how they portray wizards
Lastly, my favorite wizard in all of media is Rubick.
