I played 3 in Binding Blade. Nobody cares. You didn't do ever do consecutive chapters, but you're kidding yourself if you think that first run wasn't full of re-ups.
It wasn't until FE7/8 when the bandwagoners came, and thread traffic spiked to an all-time high, that we started getting rulesfags discouraging taking multiple chapters. If a run isn't getting consistent participants, you can't very well sit around and wait forever for someone to pick it up. That's when it's ok to double and triple up.
