Just my 2 cents but main stories in live-service games are just not going to be consistently good by virtue of having to maintain interest while also not blowing their whole load from the onset compared to an actual game where at the least the start and end may be clearly defined early on in the writing phase. That and obviously having to write to sell appeal of certain characters. It'll have its highs, but those're usually preceded by lengthier various mids and lows.
