it doesn't matter. The end result is that Contra is nostalgiabait and reference material, just like KoF and every major SNK franchise. Their greatest legacy is Capcom fighting games, lmao. I have nothing against SNK personally but Neo Geo is a relic of a bygone era. They literally just made a big attempt to return to the mainstream fighting game format aping elements from SF6, putting in SF characters (they're not out yet), putting their own characters in SF for cross promotion, and it didn't work.
This is their biggest franchise with all of their most iconic characters. It flopped.
