The idea that Mike just wants a best friend is ridiculous, James is completely focused on David right now and they both ditched him to run outside before Mike tagged along as a third wheel, I don't know how people try to justify Mike choosing James over literally anyone else let alone Abbey and Stacy who he's never had a problem with
