I feel that way about most fights in this game though. You have to pre-plan almost everything and there's very little you can react/adjust and save a run with in this game, and in fact usually if you try to adjust for someone else you wind up fucking things up a bit more.
M5S is fun enough yeah, it's definitely caried by the visuals and thematic but I especially like the second frog dancing phase where you just have to freeforall avoid a bunch of halfcleaves even if halfcleaves are the most overdone thing in the game.
I did like the adds phase in M6S since it was something actually different than normal and was noticably way different than the NM verison.
M7S just felt the same as M7N to me (this isn't a bad thing because it was a good fight), it's still one of my favourite fights in the game because the boss himself has actual personality unlike a lot of the bosses we wind up getting...actually this has been the best part about Arcadion period, there's no random fucking monster you fight just because, even the minor bosses like Dancing Green get some characterization before and after their fights and everyone having voiceacting and their own themes really helps a bit.
A lot of stuff about Dawntrail has left me disappointed but definitely not the actual fights themselves.
