No it's unavoidable
But the main problem is lack of teleportation and location clarification so that 99% of the gameplay is just walking until you find the next place you're supposed to go.
The game will give you one line of dialogue like "we need to find a red gem in Dracula's castle" and thats all the direction you're getting for your next main quest. No world map, noquest pointer, you just walking around aimlessly hoping you'll somehow find some secret path that lead to a new area. Not to mention random encounters every 20 steps just to fuck with your time even further.

The art is shit and really it's not worth the time. Just go play something else.
