It's genuinely dire that they felt the need to do this since it probably means their internal metrics revealed that players simply didn't participate in those additions, same reason why they ended up getting rid of hangouts. It only gets worse when you remember how halfway through Natlan they figured those FOMO rewards somehow still weren't enough to persuade people so they ended up plastering an ad in the top left corner of the world map. What's even worse is that based on the Nod-Krai livestream they have, again, drawn all the wrong conclusions about players skipping these quests and as a result they'll start integrating them into the archon quest rather than let them remain optional pieces of side content.
They will do anything but reflect on WHY their own players willingly skip certain types of content
