Italy stayed a country with a good industrial base, but got gutted by the Euro because the money was too strong because based on the mark.
Modern GDP is 100%. Before the GDP was only about industrial output (aka we create real things), but as the west deindustrialized and feminized, we started to count women bullshit jobs (aka staying behind a desk all day).
But as the world is getting more uncertain and wars popping all over the place, we are rediscovering that the only thing that count is, can you feed your people, how much steel can you produce and how much energy have you access to ? And not how much powerpoints can you make, places you can travel to and how much can you inflate your housing market...
Real economy and industrial output is back on the menu.
