Virtually every major video game franchise in existence innovated in some way but only Mega Man fans for some reason are still demanding what amounts to level packs or games that indie developers can and do create today by the dozens. It's true that console Mega Man games hit a shaky period and the property thrived on handhelds when handhelds basically did the same thing consoles did 10-15 years prior but that mindset IS what led to stagnation. Mega Man 9 was special because it was a throwback then they did it again. Then Mega Man 11 was basically also that, just without explicit visual nostalgia bait. And sure those games were okay but they were nothing special or memorable and that's the problem. Imagine if Resident Evil was still using blocky graphics, tank controls and fixed camera, No one would care about that franchise anymore. Imagine if Nintendo just cloned A Link to the Past 15 times instead of trying to do something new. Imagine if Galaxy and Odyssey were no different from New Super Mario Bros. That's what Mega Man fans are asking for for some reason.
Mega Man NEEDS a new definition.
