On Saturday night, Israel and Iran continued to exchange strikes.
◾ According to reports from Western and Iranian news agencies, the Mehrabad airport area in Tehran was attacked. According to Reuters, the area is home to an Iranian Air Force base with fighter jets and transport aircraft. Fire and heavy smoke billowed from the airport, an AFP journalist said.
◾ A senior Iranian official told CNN that Tehran will intensify its attacks on Israel and strike regional bases of any country that tries to defend it.
◾ IAEA chief Rafael Grossi told the Security Council the above-ground pilot enrichment plant at Iran's Natanz nuclear site, which produced 60%-enriched uranium, has been destroyed. He also added (later confirmed by Iran) that "there is radiological and chemical contamination inside the facilities," but there were no indications of external contamination.
Iran also confirmed that its Fordo nuclear facility sustained limited damage, but there are "no contamination concerns."
◾ In the early morning, the IDF issued a brief statement saying that Israel was continuing to strike targets in Iran "to remove threats." Iranian state media reported that the Iranian military was shooting down Israeli drones in the northwest near the Salmas border.
◾ UN Secretary-General António Guterres called on Iran and Israel to stop the "escalation."
