Survival is only postponing death. You could stop war, stop AI, save the environment, we'd still all die eventually.
One of the things science and most religions all share is they all have some concept of the end of the world. Sooner or later everyone on this plane of existence will be no more. Whether that happens across a timeframe incomprehensibly long, or ten minutes from now, it doesn't really matter.
Besides, even if we survive some terrible existential threat, what exactly are we saving? Take AI for example. People are saying it could provide some kind of existential threat, and potentially send us to extinction. Even if we stopped it, so what? Once that threat is out of the way, we'd go right back to doing what we were doing before: Hating each other, killing each other, and generally staying divided. While the ruling elite above us manipulate us as they hoard the majority of the planet's wealth and resources for themselves. Maybe we can't be saved. But we certainly don't deserve to be, either.
