Actress Ichihara Etsuko’s (市原悦子) narration of the Japanese edition of the Anne of Green Gables series, translated by Muraoka Hanako (村岡花子). Muraoka’s translation was published in 1952 and is highly regarded in Japan for its elegant language. Her life story is dramatized as the 2014 NHK asadora Hanako to Anne (花子とアン). Produced for NHK radio broadcast, this narrated version was later released as a box set of 12 CDs in the same year. It includes the story arc of the first three books in the series: Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea, and Anne of the Island.
