That "Indian" is Buffy Ste Marie, a dark skinned Italian girl from Massachusetts. She spent her entire music career pretending to be an Indian and got a bunch of awards and notoriety for it. Some Canadian journalists found out she was lying the whole time and now the Indians are pissed.
