Sphene is meant to be THE moe-blob character for FFXIV
she has a total of ONE(1) animation of genuine expressiveness, of which, they have already reused it once because they're fucking hacks (two times if you count the flashback cutscene)

All i'm saying is that FFXI was a game that was true to it's RPG roots along side learning how to manage a living, breathing world full of players
FFXIV 1.0 followed the same principles and failed to acclimate the gameplay side of things, leading to a hasty reconstruction which has undergone many awful growing pains and here we are in its maturity and it is bland, sterile and stagnant
meanwhile, the story has propped up its weaker side of things from pure storytelling alone; there is such little budget offered to the game that it took us 10 years to finally get a graphical update
now that the story has taken a dive, it becomes clear to many unaware of the deteriorating foundation

It is entirely ironic that Dawntrail focuses on The Head of Reason and Resolve, because the game itself operates the same. One head has been dead for 10 years and the other is quickly falling asleep.
