This contest will go to ranked choice voting after no candidate won a majority. Initial election night returns showed Mamdani leading Cuomo, with the rest of the candidates trailing. It isn’t clear whether that lead will hold as candidates with the least support are eliminated and votes cast for them are redistributed based on voter preference. Further updates are expected on July 1.
