The way the anime made the character designs all flat is one of the biggest reasons I'll never fully like bocchi anime. Frieren embraced the body types from the manga and kept in the joke about Ferns boobs blocking Frieren's vision, but the prudish bocchi anime erased bocchis boobs and took out the joke in the maid cafe scene entirely because it wanted the anime to be entirely for kids, with anything about girls commenting on each other's bodies removed. It's not just Bocchi, all of the body types in the anime all got ironed down into the exact same body, there's something about it that's off-putting. It's like you're not allowed to have physical differences other than what color your hair is.
