It was downhill ever since they took out TV mode and fucked the pacing of all their story content, turning it into a 'running down hallways' simulator followed by trash mobs
Everything past 1.4 (which was clearly the storyline they had originally had in mind) was slop filler and the end of 1.7 was a deus ex machina asspull 'your MC has superpowers' as an excuse to go to chinaland and do cultivation shit

Also all the designs turned into generic hoyoshit because they ran out of Waterkuma designs and none of their in-house artists wanted to/were allowed to emulate his style because his works are too SEX for mihomo.
