I did notice some of that but I didn't realise how indepth it was until I watched some videos, maybe the same one as you? there was a line about how the combine recognises gordon as another individual organism just like itself and it calls him "individual" despite using all the dehumanising medical terms for everyone else. Which reminds me of 1984 by jorjor well because the evil totalitarian government calls the main character the 'last man'. oh yea and there's this from the beginning:

When I was playing, I wished point insertion lasted a lot longer so you could witness this society more, but at least this amount of detail behind the scenes makes up for it. and you raise a shockingly good point that the metrocops never had any real experience before
