They were just really cool. I mean Sasori was great too, but in this game the puppet masters never had to be so close to manipulate their puppets so there was no obvious weakness of rushing down the puppet master, they made their puppets look like big monsters instead of humanoids, and they were really into voice acting so they spoke through their puppets. They were kind of more like robots than dolls.
